Looking for a new laptop

I need to get a new laptop before I go off to university next year and was wondering if you guys had some ideas. I'm looking for a laptop that can play games as well as still be moderately portable and that looks good.

Assume that I'm not really willing to spend over $2500 as an absolute max but would like to spend less.

What do you think?

Its more of a hypothetical limit, I'd much rather spend less obviously but I want people's opinions without being worried about how much it might cost.
