Scarface
Goodfellas
American Gangster

The above movies show the development of a character involved in organized crime. What are some other that would fit this description, that you can think of? I enjoy this type of movies and would like to see if there's something I haven't watched.

The Godfather is somewhat related, but it rather is about the whole family, it doesn't focus as much on one character. Once Upon a Time in America is also similar, but it lacked something for me, I didn't enjoy it as much as the above.

EDIT: I guess I didn't say what I meant clearly enough. By "development" I meant that the character starts basically as a "nobody" and then becomes someone big in the business.

Haven't seen The Usual Suspects, but the other two movies don't really fall in that criteria.

The Godfather series kind of focuses on Michael, though. And afaik GfII has a Vito section which is rather like the OP describes.

I guess City of God could be considered this type of movie, but it isn't mafia related.

Donnie Brasco

Mean Streets
Casino
King of New York
The Sicilian
Bugsy
Revolver
Miller's Crossing
