Looking for the original maps

HI. Thank you for helping me in advance. Now my question is where all the original maps like de_dust de_dust2 are. I found maps in C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\xxxxxxxx\counter-strike source\cstrike\maps but these maps are all downloaded maps. I am looking for the original ones. I need them so I can make some measurements.

First off, you'll need GCFScape or HL2Studio to extract the maps from the .GCF files in your SteamApps folder.

The maps should be in the counter-strike source shared.gcf.

And what do you mean by measurements? There's an example map (de_cobble) already in the SDK.

Many thanks Shens, but I was wondering if anyone has extracted dust or/and dust2 and put it up for downloading. I would just need dust and dust 2. I also want to make it clear that I am not lazy about this it just I know that I would have so many things go wrong that I would come back again asking more questions. So a download would be great.

nobody can be bothered to do that... just download gcfscape and remember to exit steam before using it.. everything should work.. besides, if you want to open dust and dust 2 for editing thats impossible, they are only available as compiled bsps. de_cbble is available for editing as an example map. why? so we dont get a million and one dust clones which are just dust with an extra box or something.

You can edit any map, you just need a decomplier/converter, and yes there is one out there, but i forgot the site.
