In the next month, I'll be purchasing my first car. I'm thinking of 4 models:

Mazda 6 sport

2008 Lancer

Volkswagen GTI

Tell me your opinions of these cars. Also choose the car you like best in the poll. All of these cars come with good features and specifications, I just need some input on what I should get.

I think the Lancer looks best imo. It's brand spankin' new, and it's sexy. Plus it's got the Lancer name on it, so it gets 2 points from that.

I like the mazda. If your gonna get the lancer go all out and get the lancer evolution. Your insurance company may hate you though.

The lancer looks lame honestly. And if you're going to get an automatic the DSG system in the GTi is the nicest you're going to find on any of those cars; it even has paddle shifters; but that isn't to say that the 6 speed isn't nice. And if you take it to APR for a chip ($599) it'll bump the power to 252hp/303lb-ft on 93 octane. Which isn't too slow.

Is that 6 a mazda speed 6? I know you didn't say it, but I'm just curious, because if it is that could be a good choice too. But one of my friends has a MS6 and it doesn't even have 10k miles on it, and already little things are starting to break (like air vents). He's a long time mazda fan, and bought the MS6 when he got tired of his 3.

The passat seems like the one that doesn't belong, you have 3 somewhat sporty cars, and then the passat. I'm not saying it's not nice, but it's different. And yea, if you're going to get a lancer get the evolution. It's just one of those cars you don't buy the not-top-of-the-line model.

If I personally had to rate them:
Evo
GTi
MS6
Passat
Non-MazdaSpeed 6
Lancer

Lol, 3 car threads at top of forum.

I'd get the passat but that's personal choice.

I'd say get any of them you like except the mazda.

I don't understand why people are voting for the lancer...you guys realize this is NOT the evo. It's a FWD, non-turbo, 150hp, lancer.

****, didn't realise the gti was turboed.
If you can afford that get it!

Don't get the Golf GTI, get the Polo GTI ... cheaper, lighter, and with the 1.8 Turbo engine from the golf.

take the 15,000+ and buy some classic car thats already been pimped the **** out. i can tell you that you could have a 10 second vw beetle for 15,000 EASY. Im sure you could get a camaro or whatever your wanted for that much.

but I like older cars alot more than newer. Thats just how i roll :)

I know it's not an Evo.

But I still think he should GET an Evo :p

The GTI is an epic car. Yeah its only a 2 door, but hey, its a GTI in a small package. Its the best choice because its a VW. VWs are just SO WELL BUILT and truly are great cars. If you want reliability, either go for the Passat (great family car) or the GTI for a bit of speed in your life.

GTI if you really have cut it down to that choice.

It's the best car in its class end of. In addition to superb build quality, it holds it value very well, meaning when/if you want to sell can do easily.

Ah, just go get a 3rd gen RX7, forget these new cars. There are some good 94's out there with only 50k miles. Granted, they are race miles, that's besides the point :p

Too bloody right. Used cars are the way to go. Something like a 3000 GT or Supra, its fast, looks great and is japanese so it'll never die! RX7s are pretty cool, but I dont trust wankel engines. Old school evos and scoobies are great too, but what you really want is a Sierra or Escort RS cosworth. But I doubt they made it to Canada.

Ew Jap cars. Only Americans buy jap cars... Oh yeah and only Americans get NEW cars as their first cars. We in Finland buy Opels(Vauxhalls) and Toyotas from the 80s as our first cars, and when we're 40 we can afford the VWs and Audis.

And then we dont buy new ones, becuase dropping 3 grand for putting a number plate on it and driving it off the forecourt, followed by 3 years of the price in free fall it rather steep.

I still can not grasp why people are voting for an inferior machine. The GTi does everything better or equal too the lancer, I think the GTi looks better, and because it's turbo it has greater tunability.

The only reason I could see people voting for it is either they just like the way it looks (which is silly), or they are associating lancer with evo, and figuring it must be some awd/turbo vehicle.

Golf GTI for sure, it's a brilliant car

The other 3 cars look like something a middle-aged man on a budget would buy, the Golf is the most striking in the list

Buy a GTI, the engine last a hundred years and has a GPS that points to Poland !

hmm, if i were you i'd get an Acura RL. But out of those 3, if you're looking for efficiency, then definatel go for the VW. Looks wise, i'd go for the Mazda 6 but in black or white with black rims.

I'd go with either of the VW's. The Mazda's nice, but no Volks. GTi or Passat; depends on what you're going for. I'd go for the Passat personally.
