Looping sounds

This is happening in all my source games, and reinstallation and whatnot hasn't fixed it, but I figured here would be the best place to post.

Up until recently, my games have been running fine, but now whenever I try to play a source game, it runs incredibly slowly and loops sounds on the first menu. This renders games unplayable, as I can't even get into a damn game. I haven't changed anything except installing guitar hero, but I don't think that would do it. Steam support has nothing on this. Any ideas?

Do you have a sound card? Try updating the drivers if you do.

Nope, onboard sound.

You can still update onboard audio drivers.

Type in console stopsounds....but that just might be for ambient sounds....this happened before to me on my older PC...which couldn't handle CSS really well.

What do you have your speakers set as in game?

I don't know. The options menu takes ages to load. The sound slowly progresses, so with the music it will loop a bit, then move on and loop the next bit and so on. The game itself is running incredibly slowly, which I think simply causes the sounds to loop.

I have the exact same problem!! But its only on Garrys mod.
