hey, i was just thinking about the intertwined stories in half-life and wondered how you all thought they connected.

I mean, barney reentered the scene in hl2, but what about adrian, gina cross, collette whats-her-name.

I think they all survived the black mesa incident and will reappear but when and where?
Personally i think since it seems gordon is freed from the gman, adrian will step up as the gman's new pet-project. gina and collete have got to be running with resistance somewhere too. portal will come into this as well. and where is all the xen wildlife??? we get some of the old skoolers like headcrabs, vortigaunts, etc, and some new ones like the antlions, but what the hell happended to race x and the xen weaponry.
surely they cant have just vanished...and bigger yet where will aperature sciences, the gman , and the combine fit in...

As for Race X and some of the Xen fauna- maybe Earth provided an inhospitable environment for them, and they died off in the years leading up to the events in HL2.

I'm convinced that we'll see Shephard again eventually, somehow, somewhere. Gordon might even have to face him.

Race-X is no more. At least, they are no longer a factor in the Half-Life universe. They've been effectively sealed away from Earth and Xen, from a story perspective. From an out-of-game perspective, Valve hates them and wishes to never speak of them again.

Doctors Cross and Green may be dead.

Xen aliens like leeches, ichthyosaurs, bullsquids, houndeyes, and anything else you may not have seen seemed to have escaped to Earth and we will likely see them again. Well, we've already seen ichthies and leeches. As for controllers and grunts...they're all dead. When the Nihilanth died, they died off too after the span of a few weeks/months/a few years tops.

Adrian Shephard will likely return. Gabe Newell likes him.

Xen wildlife is all there. They exist in the remote regions of Earth, probably very much detatched from the Combine cities.

And Shephard just. You know. Sucks.

Shephard got hıs endıng. I see no reason to expand on hım. It ıs doubtful that Cross and Green would have been able to escape. The only Gearbox character that I would, perhaps, lıke to return ıs Rosenburg.

why rosenburg? he wasnt particularly interesting, in fact if I remember correctly he was kinda a dick in decay/BS (I cant remember which one he was a dick in, I think it was decay)

I lıked hım. Probably because he was one of the only characters wıth a unıque model.

Rosenberg was probably one of the most bland characters in the HL series. He had absolutely no frills or eccentricities or anything interesting about him at all.

I disagree. He was much more interesting then any other scientists you meet, who are either cowards or dead or mute (Rosenberg's colleagues). he didn't need any eccentricities, he just got good ideas (like how to escape the train car).
And we know for sure that he did manage to escape Black Mesa, so it's strange how he's completely absent from anything else. Barney was in the same SUV with him, how did they get separated?
Just one of those mysteries, I suppose.

Yes i agree that Rosenberg should come back to HL universe. He was one of the main characters in half life series. Unless he got killed by combine during the invasion. Who knows?

Adrian might be Gman's next pet project? mhmhmh. Or he is already having adventures somwhere else

there is no obligation for valve to put any of those things in their games because none are half-life canon

I liked how in opposing force Adrian saw a glimpse of Gordon right before he leap through the portal. If they do bring adrian back I hope they do something like that again.

Yeah, he showed more depth than the scientists (which were interchangable in every way except model)- but only just. Rosenberg had a different model, voice, and lines relevant to what you had to do, and nothing more.
