Haha.. made you look.

I was talking to sister about it, after we saw the 3rd film, laughing about stupid names, storylines for the movie etc would there be if pete made a 4th

note to flame-happy-book fans: I KNOW there wont be a 4th, I have read the books etc etc, Im not saying there should be a 4th, This threads just for being silly in x.x

So what would you make the 4th film about, and how much would it suck ass?

I dunno, considering J.R.R is long dead I know we won't see one.

And what would be the point, It'd be frodo on a boat, whoopi.

or maybe Sam's marital troubles.

Am I the only one who noticed that Rosy spoke like.. once, in the whole film, on the 1st one I think she said something to the drunk, but thats it.

Damn sam, you married a mute..

I remember barrowing a Lord of The Rings book from the Vancouver Central Library.
It was the first installment obviously but I remember it mentioning another book taking place in the same world as Lord of The Rings did but it happened a long time ago.
I even remember searching for it on the internet.
I forgot what it was but I'll look again.
They should turn that into a movie.
I think it was called the Samirillion or something...

Its the Silmarillion (spelt different..)

It was the book set in middle earth but nothing about lord of the rings, JRR died before it was finshed though, one of his family finshed it off, never read it as the ending was not wrote by him, so why bother..

Actually, the Silmarillion is pretty much Tolkien's work. All the content was created by him at some point, and it was simply compiled and edited (with some things added due to the disorganized nature of Tolkien's notes and compositions and in areas that needed clarification) by his son. The Silmarillion was never written as a novel; it's a history of Middle Earth.

The Simrillarion is a great book, anyway... they should do a film of that.... but it would be bloody confusing :)

Yeah, I started reading it in the beginning of the year and I was like "WHAT THE HELL!?"
Most of the book is a bit like this:
Boromir's, dad's, uncle's, granddad's, cousins, childrens dog died after the blabla...

I dunno, I coulda sworn The Hobbit wasn't going to be a Newline Cinemas film.. I could be wrong, though; was watching an interview with the guy that played Sam and he was talking about it late one night

The rights to the hobbit are jointly held between newline and another production company. Suposedly they are negotiating to bring the story to the screen. Once they have finalized then they will look to appoint a director, naturally it's 99% likely that PJ will get the first refusal. Ian Mckellan is interested in playing Gandalf again if it does happen.

There is actually a trailer for the hobbit kicking around the net :)

And it has Gandalk in it, and Smaug, and it looks f*cking awesome :D

Yup, seen that trailer. Half of it is made up of stuff from the Fellowship of the Ring though :(

Ya the Silmarillion was really confusing. Although I like how it explains so much stuff that was a complete mystery in LotR, like what the Balrogs are, where Sauron came from and where Dwarves, Elves, Orcs, and humans came from.

ok got to say somethin (puts on flame suit) I rented lord of the rings a longggggggg time ago....It was very boring...fell asleep at the end....i do not see why people love these movies.....am i missing something...??? (dives into water)

Since i didnt know who else to quote, im using you.

The silmarillion is set out very much like a history book, or an even better example...The Bible. That explains a lot of the soandso the son of thingymagig the son of randomguy....

I never did finnish the silmarilion, i got about half way through and just stopped for no apparent reason. Then i figured it must have been my brain forcing me to stop cramming all the information in.

However, it would make a cool series of 17 hour long films :)

Well then you should watch the 2nd and 3rd movies, they have plenty action.

i read somewhere that PJ went back to new zeland to scout out possible shooting locations in preparation for the possibility of making the hobbit.

after the amazing success of the LOTR trilogy, i can't imagine that it wouldn't get made somehow...i'm sure if two different companies own the rights to it, they'll work it out somehow...there's too much money to be made.

imo, the only way it wouldn't be made is if Ian McKellan, Andy Serkis (gollum), or Hugo weaving died or were unwilling to repirse their roles...they could get someone else to play a younger Bilbo and i don't think there are any other actors that would cross over...i'm probably forgetting a crossover character or two, but i'm sure they'd all be willing to make the hobbit...how could you turn down more fame, money, and success?

I like The Hobbit much better then the LOTR series, The Battle of 5 Armies would be awesome to actually watch : )
