So, I'm capped (Pretty much every ISP in Aus sets a bandwidth limit depending upon which 'plan' you sign up on - so I went over my download limit which was 25GB) which means my speed goes from 1.5Mb to 64KB/s (It IS as painful as it sounds).
The thing is, they open limit certain ports )so 80 for HTTP, 21 for FTP etc) and other things but games don't get limited in anyway but for some reason I'm getting regular loss (Usually around 30) and regular choke (Usually around 10).
I had just bought a new system and I didn't really do any gaming as I had a lot of work to catch up on so I can't remember if I had these problems before I was capped (I'm uncapped in 9 days, yayay).
Also, when I die in DOD:S basically everything stops (Like a normal lag spike) and the timer continues to count down than when it hits 0, nothing happens for around 5 seconds and than I spawn - this also happens in CS:S and even 1.6 and during gameplay in these I get random lag spikes.
So; what are the common issues of choke/loss ? So I can poke around my router, XP settings etc. Also, why would I be getting these problems now when I've never had them before while I was capped ? It's either settings or something, or my ISP has changed somehow.
