Gad Sarnit, I just want to play TF2. That's all. Just a game now and then.

I can connect to HL2.net's server no problem, but any other server I attempt to join lets me in for about 3 seconds before I get a message on screen about a "conneciton problem", then I'm booted to a Steam message telling me I "Lost connection to the server".

This is infuriating. I can play Counter Strike and HL2: DM without this problem.

I'm currently looking through Steampowered's support seciton, but if anyone has an idea I'm all ears.

Yes and yes. Checked them, it's definitely not them.

Verified game cache, unblocked the program etc tec. Still no results.

Try finding other servers that your already have an IP for. If you can connect to those, but still not ones from the master list you might have a DNS issue.

When was the last time you upgraded router firmware?
When was the last time you upgraded your NIC driver?

I am currently experiencing this exact problem but no one seems to be able to help me.

Has anyone found a work around for this issue? :(

Seen as I've had PM's regarding this, here's what I've discovered:

http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=598697

The second thread is chock full of very helpful pointers and fixes for this problem. Unfortunately, none have worked for me, and the problem has begun to affect CS along with destroying my Xbox live connection.

Shitty BT will be cancelled. Steam is fine, Portal is fine, Ep2 is fine, it's only when I'm connecting to online games. Oh and my internet is fine.

So, hopefully some help in there for others.
