Lost Half Life 2 CD 1, have rest

Hi all,

I recently moved and somewhere along the way I misplaced CD 1 from half life 2, but I have all the others. the game works fine of course, but in a month I'm upgrading my PC and will need to somehow reinstall HL2 onto the new machine, from scratch

can I just download the entire game through my steam account instead? I purchased episodes 1 and 2 through steam so I assume I'd be able to download those again.

I'd ask this on the steam support forums but I can't find the damn "ask a question" link

Yes, you can download all those games from your Steam account. You can also make backups (using Steam's backup function) so you don't have to redownload them whenever you feel like playing your games.

oh that's awesome, thanks for the tip! looks like after I get the new machine I'll be spending a few hours letting steam download everything again
