LOTR: The Third Age

i dunno, the hl2 fire is the best i've seen in a game before, u can't really tell from the screeny cause u dont know how it flows or whatever. Definately impressive tho.

Fire is pretty easy to get into realtime engines now. It's just the difficult part is getting it in the first place. Fire being fire n all, burning n dangerous n stuff its not the kind of thing most can get raw footage from, but thats how to do it, then throw it around in edited software and you can get some great effects. Mix it with artificial fire effects, maybe some Hypervoxel or volumetric effects too. I remember a really old Lightwave tutorial for that infact, just used a volumetric distant light and the resut was white impressive fire. Buggerslow to render though :)

I almsot forgot, B&W 2's fire looks wicked.

In fact, they have some new pics at www.hardwired.hu.

I haven't heard to much about B&W 2 lately, this is the most recent thing in the past few months.

..HL2's fire looks good? I've always thought it looked quite crap, myself :| It looks far too sprite based (er, and it is?)

Well, admittedely, I enjoyed the part where the zombies caught fire in traptown.. but, in the screens I've seen, I've not been impressed
I think I'm far too jaded these days /me cries

The fire in the Splinter Cell games looked good. But it didn't really look real.

Black & White II's fire looks quite t3h impressive.
