ive tried everything i can think of and i still grt only 20 fps 30 max. even in a server with just me. my ping never peaks higher than 120 +/- a few, i have a 1.8ghz p4, 1ghz of ram, ati radeon 9800xt video card, i set everything to its lowest possible settings, agp 64, fast write off, lowest possible video card settings, 640x480 resolution on pc and in game, i dumbed down the hl2dm graphics as much as possible, defragged my pc, ran ad-aware and spybot, uninstalled then reinstalled hl2dm, and have only explorer and hl2dm processes running when i play.

i tested this on many servers, east coast (which i am located) west coast, and i even did it on my own dedicated server, and i still never get more than 30 fps.

ive checked every possible forum thread, post, tip, and website i could find and nothing has helped.

if anyone could give me some pointers on performance settings of my videocard, or possibly some general on what you may use for higher fps that would be really cool. i love the game and im not that bad at it, i would rather die because of lack of skill other than because my fps sucks.

thanks in advance guys!

My guess is that your processor is what is keeping you back. I don't think a 1.8 machine will push that video card at all.

It's like putting 500w speakers on a system that can only output 100w from the amp. You won't get 500w sound.

* Moved into the correct forum (for the 18th time today- wth is wrong with you people??) :hmph:

You have a two monitor setup!? Lucky b*stard ...
I agree with getting a new cpu, and always make sure you have reasonably up-to-date drivers.

(And gj bliink!)

my thinking is that your cpu is what slowing you down...
but it could also be what your running in the background try turning some junk off and see if that inpacts your performace try also looking for spyware that would definatly slow it down

i have a 3ghz processor and 1 gig ram, and im getting low fps too.

before the last patch it was good... but since...

stupid valve.

Try updating all drivers (motherboard and videocard especially) also turn one monitor off and try that. Lastly reformat before you buy something else, unless you cant or have a lot of precious data

To remove the setting that patch adds, type +mat_forcehardwareintotexture 0 in the launch options.
