low framerate

hi there

I am new to this forum but I have been experiencing a problem with my graphics card and HL2. I can't get a framerate not much better than 16fps which isn't good. Hope sopmebody can help, below is my system details.

AMD Athlon XP 2500+
1.84GHz
768mb ram
160 gig of hard disk
ATI Radeon 9600 xt
Windows xp with sp2
k7 processor

I have managed to get the latest drivers for the motherboard, the graphics card I have been using Omega 2.5.90.
Hope somebody can help ? I have looked a lot on the net and can't understand why its affecting my comp.

well some of my friends have got worse graphics cards than me and there run fine, also another person has a slower processor than me so I don' think it is that

What graphics options are you trying to run? Are you getting low framerates even with everything on low? What framerates do you score on the Video Stress Test? what have you tried so far?

I`m having the same problem ! I get low framerates and lagging on the lowest setting! Half Life sets my graphic and everything to high(no AA and AF) but...
It sucks because i can play games like doom3 and Far Cry with High Setting.
Tried some tweaks but nothing seems to work ,
I get about 80 fps on the cs:s stress test , with everything on high (no aa /af)

Ati radeon 9800 pro @ flashed to XT (412/365)
1 gb Ram Pc3500 2,5-3-3-7
Windows XP with SP2
Running the newest beta drivers from ati 4.12 !

should be a lot better fps rates. i get on my 2nd system 54fps 1024x768 all high settings, no aa af
