the videocard i have is called asus v9999 gamer edition gf6800, it has 256mb and 16 pipelines, the clock speed 350mhz(easily overclocked to 420mhz), here is the picture http://www.gamers-depot.com/hardware/video_cards/asus/v9999ge/shot1.htm
The card looks like a 6800 ultra(http://www.beyond3d.com/previews/nvidia/6800s/index.php?p=2),

my spec: p4 2,4 GHz and 512 ram

It's not a low end computer, but it performs poorly in some games i play. My fps in cs is lower than 60 and the lowest fps i got in games like css is 16 with everything on high and 4x aa. I think i got the latest drivers installed.

Is there something wrong with my computer or my videocard ???

Is there any way(program) to test whether my computer is working properly ???

Dude, I am having the same issues like you with my X800 Pro, some other guy had an X800 I was playing with in css, said he had same issues, I guess its because the cards are new?? I dunno I need to email valve.

I had a problem with my 9800 Pro in CS. It ran great, but when somebody threw a smokebomb the framerate would drop to 1 (which is ridiculus, since the smoke in CS is low quality). This was with the 4.5 driver. When the 4.6 driver came out, the problem stopped.

Also, remember that CS is capped and you gotta do something to uncap it (never bothered to do it myself).

i heard people saying that css can run at 143 fps with 6800 gt, how come i'm getting as low as 16 with the 6800 gamer edition

It's not the game edition that's the problem, it shouldn't be. CS has framerate problems with a lot of cards, I don't know about CS:S but it shouldn't.

You have to remember that Half-Life (and CS and DOD, etc) is a 6 year old game engine based on an older game (Quake). It doesn't really surprise me that people are having problems with an engine that has been thoroughly been hacked to death. That is why Valve wants to switch over to the Source engine.

You should still have some decent frame rates with your new cards. Try uninstalling your current graphics card driver. THen download and run "driver cleaner" and then install the latest graphics card drivers and see if that fixes your problem.

it's true, what he said.

old engine + new cards + fifth gen technology = problems, except in the weird and downright Carmack Q]|[.

i just ran 3DMark03, i got 5057. Is it normal ?? Is there any better program than 3Dmark03. I'm using the free version where the resolution and anti-aliasing can't be changed. I will run the test again after over-clocking the card.

Yeah I know it's true but he had a little trouble saying it. "that's been has been..."

I ran the test again on 3DMark03

The setting for the test is:
settings:
resolution: 1024 x 768
Pixel Processing: None
Texture Filtering: Optimal
Max Anisotropy: 4
Vertex Shaders: Optimal
Repeat Tests: Off
Fixed Framerate: Off

I got 5680, is it normal ??

Make sure AA and AF is off in the control panel. Your score should be around 7000+ n 3D Mark 03.

plz tell me where to turn aa and af off in the control panel

If you are using the free version, you won't be able to change things like that, they are off by default.

I get those kind of results with my modded 9800SE.. odd.

right click on your desktop -> properties -> Settings -> Advanced.

Look around in there and make sure AA and AF is set to application preference.
