The lowest I can find is mid-$240's on various sites - even on newegg, the cheapest ones are in the $260's, and they can't even keep them in stock. I thought they were supposed to be lower? PC Gamer said they'd be under $200 in their latest issue... what gives?

Supply and Demand. There are shortages everywhere hence the price is higher than normal.

I think the $200 price was for the 256mb versions which I haven't seen being sold yet

There should be units priced close to $200 but I've read comments saying they wouldn't be out right away. I did see one (MSI) on buy.com I think for < $230.

Heh the prices in the UK are 170+ pounds which is like $340, I can't believe you guys get them for $250 :(

On Craigslist? You sure its an 8800GT and not a similar, but different model?

8800GTS 320mb, used...Id get it and run SLI, but I wanna find another Superclocked model like mine...

the 256mb version is supposed to be at the $200 price point

better performance than a $375 8800gts 640mb for $250 doesnt seem expensive to me.

You're right, its not... and while I personally would have no objection to dropping $250 for an 8800GT, I'll have a much easier time convincing my wife if its under the $200 threshold. Although, I'm not sure I'd want to settle for the 256MB version if that's all that it is. If that's the case I'll probably just wait until the 512MB drops to under $200.

wait exactly 6 days ..ATI is coming out with their response to the 8800GT ..supposedly $200 with near 8800GT performance (within 7% and in some cases it outperforms)
