ur barrel and grip dont look circular they look ovalish ....its like u scaled a cylinder but only on one axis...
thts the only thing that looked funny to me..
other than that it looks pretty ok
i guess its technically acurate.
cany plans on skinning it ?
or are u planning ot leave it like this?

edit: btw the same aplies for the butt .....it also seems ovalish.
and under detailed.

edit: plus the picany rail for sights and stuff is wrong it need to be extruded in.
if u need a pic ive got loads.

Another m4, great... amazing... :hmph:

20 round magazines are completely straight!

no its a WIP so ill be fixing things, and im in the process of unwraping it

ur aimer thing looks really boxy....other than that its good....but then again there are so many m4's...........i dont know.......yeha but its a good model...:)

well said :D

and nice model for a WIP

An M4A1 has a removable carry handle that is shaped differently to the fixed carry handle, but other than that it looks pretty nice.

The carrying handle is 'snapped' onto a rail. If you remove it, you can use that rail to mount something.

There are basically a bunch of rails on the gun which can hold different pieces of equiptment. The rail for the top sight (handle) is in the middle, there are allso 3 other rails on the grip, but those can be detached.

On a plane Jane M4A1 there is one rail, which is a 20mm rail. This allows the attachment of anything with a 20mm mount, but is mostly used for either the carry handle of the M4 which has built in iron sights, or optics, for example an Aimpoint, ACOG, or trijicon Reflex sight.

On an M4 RIS there is an additional 4 rails on the forgrip, which again are 20mm and you can attach to it anything that mounts onto a 20mm rail, when not in use you can cover them up with rail covers that slide onto the RIS. I'm not sure what you mean by 'detaching' rails, they can be removed, but they would have to be replaced with another foregrip, other wise you would be left with an exposed outer barrel.

Hope your model is coming along well. :)

i think i get what u guys are trying to say ......so when u handle the weapon do u actually use the carrying handle to hold it ?.
interesting.

When your firing the weapon? No. You would hold it by the foregrip and the pistol grip, the carry handle is there just to make it easier to carry around without a sling, you hold it by the carry handle like you would carry a briefcase.

yeah ..........i meant for handling the weapon not firing it :p.
thanks for the info..how do u know this btw?

I'm an airsofter, so I get to use 1:1 scale replicas of the real things.

oh another airsofter thats nice ;)

to see how it looks when you take off the carrying handle i used a pic of the Classic Army Armalite M15, but the carrying handle is nearly the same as on a Colt M4A1, so you can see hwo it looks:

http://www.arniesairsoft.co.uk/beta/html/nukebrowser.php?filnavn=/reviews/ca_m15/cam15_review.htm

the pic is somewhere in this review...

(i know a lil bit OT, but that are nice refs though its airsoft, maybe make a M15 instead of the over-modelled m4a1)

ive seen it without the carrying handle..i jsut didnt know what the terms were thanks a lot
:D.
