noooo rape another childhood memory why dont you?

Writer and director George Miller, creator of the Mad Max series of films, has teamed up with God of War II lead Cory Barlog to create a video game adaptation of an upcoming Mad Max sequel.

According to Newsweek's N'Gai Croal, the game will be based on Mad Max: Fury Road, a fourth film in the series that Miller was forced to put on hold following the start of the war in Iraq. Miller now plans to release both the game and movie simultaneously.

Due to his age, Mad Max star Mel Gibson will not be featured in either the movie or video game, according to Miller. The game will of course include melee, projectile, and vehicular combat.

so why call it Mad Max if the person most closely associated with Mad Max isnt in the game/movie? ...this smells like another stupid movie-tie in cash grab

Looks like 2008 going to be year of post-apocalyptic video games.

i'm disappointed. i wonder whether mel gibson simply declined or was he even asked?

Agreed however what did you expect a grandpa Mel/Max thrusting across the post apocalyptic Australian outback. But then again if Harrison Ford could do it why not...

Good grief.

But it's ok, the voices in my head are telling me not to waste my cash on either.

Well ... God of War 2 was a great game. Not too sure how much of that had anything to do with Corey Barlog though ... the actual story and presentation was worse than the first with the main advancements coming in the form of scrapped ideas from the first game and core gameplay refinements.

Still, a great game ... and he was the director ... so that counts for something. The game definitely has a chance.

it's an adaptation of the upcoming movie ..movie/video game tie-ins are rarely good; I'm not very confident this will be any different

and I dont buy that Mel is too old excuse ..the movie sounds low budget or at least not big enough of a budget to pay for Mel Gibson to return to the role. George Miller doesnt have enough hollywood clout to get the big budget movies

A post-apocalyptic game like this could be fun, but I feel like there are a lot of those already or coming soon.

The lack of creativity demonstrated here reminds me of Michael Bay, who is unfortunately looking to rape another classic in his remake of Rosemary's Baby. :frown:

I mis-read and thought this thread was about Max Payne. I was watching this comic book type ass kick flic yesterday called Sin City from a guy Frank Miller, and I thought that is who you were talking about. I remembered a 'Miller' as the writer of Sin City, but I got the first name wrong...

so... I decided to comment anyway even though you weren't really talking about Frank Miller OR Max Payne. :p

Here is my comment:

There was a strangely similar feel of the game Max Payne and the movie Sin City. I loved them both.

The end.

...
Sin City FYI

Borderlands. 'Nuff said.

Well, even if the game did include Mel, it wouldn't affect the gameplay either way. At least they have someone who at knows what's he doing to head the project - which probably can't be said for your other typical movie tie- ins. That at least gives it a glimmer of hope of maybe becoming like, umm... King Kong I suppose.

True, or even a Chronicles of Butcher Bay - where the film sucked but the game was pretty damn great. I could definitely see this project going that way.

And while I enjoyed the older films ... they aren't exactly masterpieces. I agree that a revival of the series would probably rather suck but then again all they have to really do is make a decent movie, it's not like they're making a Blade Runner sequel here.
