Mafia 2: Beautiful demo footage

That looks ****ing amazing, shot straight to the top of my wish list.
I cried a little at the end, WHY THE **** WOULD THEY END IT THERE?! WHY?! :flame:

I wonder will they include side missions in the game or will it be like Mafia 1, totally story-driven. Also will they include a day/night cycle or just have missions that take place at different times of the day like the original.

IIRC you could slide into cover in GTAIV.

yes. it's nothing new...but it's nice for them to have it....one thing the have done better than GTAIV is that it seems you can turn corners while in cover, I really wish you where able to do that in GTAIV. one thing missing though is that it seems you cannot blind fire in Mafia 2, that would have been nice to be able to do.

other than that the footage looks good, looks like they've fixed up the suspension on the cars a little since last footage. the indoor environments looks tight and combat looks fun. one thing though, they really need to tighten up the lip-sync it was way off...looked like they where dubbed from some other language.

also I hope that there's no mandatory racing sequence in this one, god I hated that mission in the first game.

Looks great. Too bad all the cars look very similar. Guess it's the time period they're dealing with.

Something about that camera angle while you're walking around just doesn't work for me.

Incidentally, what are the bits that say "censored"? The guy gets shot in the face and falls dead in a pool of blood yelling "bastard". I'm having a hard time imagining something that would have to be censored when that's the benchmark.

Yeah, that was a bit weird. I can only imagine that he placed the gun in his mouth or something. But for that to be censored and not the gory finish of the fat man...

From what I gathered the censored part was a gag, and they wanted to trick the viewer into believing the original shot killed the fat man, whereas it was the fat man who shot his supposed executioner :)

the game looks good, but I don't think its the right pace for me now. for me GTA4 got really boring towards the 2nd half of the game and this game looks to be boring from the get go

Mafia and GTA4 are very different

I'm loving it. I can't wait. Mafia 1 for the PC> GTA3. Yeah, I said it. The city was bigger than Liberty and Vice City as well.

When the shot goes off they don't cut to a "CENSORED" blackscreen, we are still able to see the game when it happens. They do it twice before the shot though. Not really sure what they were covering up, didnt seem like there was even enough time for anything to be happening in those cut shots.

Good thing "a censored mafia game" isnt a word at all, but instead its a game. And good thing the video clearly stated that the video was edited for content so as to avoid confusion about whether or not it was actually the game that was censored or not. And good thing you somehow missed that otherwise I wouldnt have been able to mock you with this post.

Good thing you have me in your sig or I would have gone on and on.

Good thing "censored" is a word or that mocking post of yours may have actually succeeded. Pity.

Looks nice, graphically the first one was terrible, not only technically but the overall design sucked. This looks much better/less boring.

I'm also praying there won't be taxi missions in the beginning, having to drive the same person for the 8th time because you drove too fast or hit a unavoidable pedestrian was frustrating as hell.

This looks quite nice, I'm interested, no doubt. However this time period has been beaten to death.

I was under the impression he put the gun in the guy's mouth or something.

I couldn't understand a god damn thing they were saying in the cinematic in that apartment.

I hope i'm not the only one. :(

Are you ****ing kidding me!!? You played the console version right?

I first played the PS2 version which sucked indeed(lazy port), but the PC version still had the heavily recycled and blurry textures.
I didn't play the game at max settings on PC, sorry for that. When it is, the game indeed looks much better. I thought it was from 2004, but it was 2002 which explains why they could use so few textures.
Sorry if I've offended fans of the game:eek:

EDIT: It was maxed, apperantly the low video memory of my laptop forced the textures to go in a very(like VERY) low resolution.

I know.

But still, you pretty much see a guy executed by the mafia in cold blood, guys mowed down with an MG-42 and yet every profanity is bleeped out.

I can understand censoring showing an M1911 into that fat bastards mouth, but profanities?

This stupid country!

Looks good. I fucking lol'd at the censoring of naughty words as they mowed down countless people and executed a man in cold blood.

You must be joking.

Not at all. Your sentence is ****ed.

I do not want to play a censored Mafia game in any form of the word.

Lets take a look at the structure of your sentence, shall we?

The subject of the sentence is the "game," to which the word "censored" is an adjective. The verb "play" is relating to the subject "game." The phrase "in any form of the word" does not make sense because the subject of the sentence is the video game, not the adjective. Had you simply just said "in any form" the sentence would have been correctly structured.

On topic:

I liked the first one well enough. It felt very stiff though, and felt like it was built on old technology. This one looks very similar in that regard, though the graphics seemed to grow disproportionately to the gameplay engine, because they look great, while everything else continues to look pretty stiff. They really need some sort of a physics engine.

Looks good but the animations could use some work.
