I've looked, and I can't see a Mafia2 thread ... For the love of god, why?

Look at the trailer.
These are in-game graphics, and if the gameplay is anything like that from the original Mafia, this game is going to be sh*thot.

The realism of the characters is getting to a point where i'm probably going to have trouble killing people for fear of flashbacks and restless nights. I seriously can't wait to play this one though.

Any mafia fans in the house?

Lol @ the end of the trailer!

Looks sick. Gimme a demo, and Im interested :D

*Raises hand*

One of my all time favs. I still have some doubts as to whether that trailer is in-game or not... its that good looking!

Any news on a release date?

@Bob - Its an open world game... similar to GTA (well... not really). It has free roaming aspects. So I don't expect a demo. Guess you haven't played the original?

Yeah it's in game, some screenshots are already out ...

No release date announced, but it's looking good so far ... I just hope it's at least a month before GTA4 or a month after GTA4. Getting both at the same time would be a tragedy.

Holy ****, those screen shots are fantastic.

old tbh there is a thread, it was around the time of gc07, game looks fantastic, i loved the original.

lets hope they don't sacrifice story-telling for those graphics though.

loved the first mafia(save for the race track) and I'm looking forward to this one.

The original had a demo.

And what the **** is up with their mouths?

I have never bothered to finish Mafia.
For an open world game it was very restricted and the overall mechanics of the game felt clunky.I don't care how good the storyline was and it's authenticity if i cannot enjoy the gameplay of the game.

If it makes you feel better,it was definitely better then the shitty Godfather spin off game. The upcoming sequel's visuals definitely look great and very authentic.
I just hope that they have improved on the game play as well.

Having never played the first game, that still looks pretty damn spifferific.

Jeebus those shots look good! As long as there is plenty of opportunity for random acts of violence against innocents, I am so there!!!

They are bombers, but they are not B52s. Mafia2 is set between 1945 and 1950, so they are possibly B17s. No idea why they are formation flying up there though.

Hmm.. it is possible to pull off a demo for an open world game (gothic 3, two worlds, skate, saints row...) they just need to make some limitations.

And yes, I havent played the original myself, but I did see quite a few gameplay videos and the games ending (which was really good).

I'm a man that loves demos, normally helps make or break a game for me, so I would dearly hope that they release one for this game.

mafia was one of the best games I've ever played. Strongly recommended.

Take a look at Crackdown for the 360 and tell me again open-world games can't have demos. In fact, it was the most successful demo (maybe still is) ever for Xbox Live.

I personally think that Mafia is a little overrated.

The never-ending taxi missions is what really killed it for me. :(

Ah, good point, but another good point about the historical license they may be using here. ;)

Just thought I'd dig this thread back up. :o Not much point starting a new'un for a few new screens:

lol @ the mg42 in his hands.

Looking good, want to see some footage.

Reminds me alot of the old engine tbh for Mafia. I mean it looks better than that ofcourse :P but for some reason it does remind me.

I played the demo for the original and loved it. Never could find the game. I was actually thinking during the trailer what you put at the end of your post Pobz. It could be perfectly believable for anyone from even 100 years in the past to assume these are actors. :/

The character models look really good.

Mafia was poo. This looks better :)

I agree. The first Mafia was very "Meh," kind of slow for my tastes & not that interesting, but fun enough I wouldn't exactly call it a waste of time. This looks better, but I'll with-hold judgment till I play it.

Screens look swish. Loved the first game (hard as nails car race aside) sequel will be a definite purchase.

Looks exactly like Mafia except with FASTR CARZ BTR GUNZ BTR GROPHIX ND BTR AI... bloody capitalists.

I sure hope you don't think any of the GTA's are better than Mafia.

I have a feeling this will be a bastardization of what could be a great franchise. Mafia was great because it was a PC game that told a great long story. It was what The Godfather game should of been like if the Godfather should have actually been made a game, yuch.

Consoles games seem to be quicker and more 13 year old gamer oriented, which means lame story but tons of action, man!

Please don't fail us PC gamers Mafia 2.

I remember enjoying the game when I played the first one, but tbh it wasnt very memorable, since I dont recall a damn thing about it besides the fact that me and my brother liked it.

I'm 25 years old, and yes I enjoy GTA games more ON the PC (With mouse-aim & a joystick for driving, the controls are perfection.) Mafia had a good story, but the gameplay was way too slow-paced for my tastes.

I had tons more fun with GTA3, Vice City, and San Andreas combined than I did with Mafia.
The only thing Mafia had going for it was a fantastic story, which is admittedly better than GTA's stories.
