So I got Half Life 2: Deathmatch, started it up and it runs fine. Then once i get to the actual playing of the game I get really low frame rate. Also if I fire off a gun the sound has an echo. I'm pretty sure my drivers are updated and I meet the system requirements but I can't seem to find the problem.

Here's my rig:

Processor: Mobile Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.80GHz

Memory: 766MB RAM

Hard Drive: 29 GB

Video Card: Intel(R) 82852/82855 GM/GME Graphics Controller

Sound Card: SigmaTel Audio

Thanks,

Optics.

Yeah that's what I thought, is it not updated or just not good enough?

I had that video card. When you come to playing single player, you won't be able to hear what people say on the screens nor will the flashlight work.

You need a new graphics card.

You don't actually have a physical graphics card at the moment, so playing any games on your PC isn't going to be any fun. You'll need to invest in one if you wish to play these games properly.

I'm not sure how old your machine is, but do you have an AGP or PCI-Express slot on your motherboard? Also, what is the wattage of your PSU? If you have an idea of a budget if you want to invest we can recommend appropriate cards.

Thanks for all the responses, I didn't think I would get any. I might upgrade this computer but it is a few years old and I am planing on getting a new one. Is there anything I can do to increase the frame rate? I have lowered the graphic settings in Half Life, exited out of all other programs I don't need running.

What is your Internet speed do you use? If it is too low, you will got lag in servers or Server owner's internet speed is low. So another people has got this problem for this issue with you.

We've already determined its his graphics card, not his internet speed.

Yeah it's not my internet connection I know that, downloading software I get about 180 KB/sec. But I was planning on getting a new computer which ordered today from HP, so I think I will just download then again.
