Play from hard drive. Copy your games from the game disc and play directly from the hard drive. Not only will the drive not spin, but load times are quicker, as well. Of course, you will still need the disc in the tray to prove you own the game.

Dashboard built into the new Xbox Guide. For everyone who loves the blades interface, it?s not going away; they are now built directly in to the new Xbox guide. Every feature and option is available right from the guide. You can even access your full games library at all times. No matter where you are (in dash or in game), immediately call up your games played list and directly launch a game.

New display support. Because you asked for it, we are adding 16X10 over VGA or HDMI, and support for 1440x900 or 1680x1050.

Hell yes!! 1680x1050 support FINALLY!

Aww I was hoping it would verify only once and that's when it copies to the HD, but I understand why. Maybe they can implement a cd-key system in the future? And if you don't have a serial # with ur game, you have to use the disc at all times(this would apply to rental games mainly). I am too lazy to get up and switch discs all the time. But, I guess the no noise from the disc drive and the faster load times evens things out.

As far as the new display support... this affects games too?

Awesome about the 1680x1050 support, finally a feature I actually want. Any word on when the update is coming?

that play from drive thing isnt all that well thought out ..I mean with 20G of space on the majority of xbox360s it'll be a feature that's infrequently used ..unless they're coming out with a new SKU or smaller/less expensive add on hd

the support for 1680 x 1050 = awesome

The new standard "Pro" SKU is going to be $350 for a 60gb HDD, so that'll help somewhat for features like this...even though I can't help but feel it could be exploited somehow by the piracy community.

20gig 360's are reduced in price and are being phased out. The new sku will be a 60gig drive. And if you've got an elite, it doesn't matter.

edit: b10

Yeah, as everyone else has stated, they picked the perfect time for the feature with 60GB going to be standard.
Besides, I have a 120GB in my Elite, so I'm gonna use it for every game.

Roughly 10 GB game. 120 GB HDD. That equals to 12 games. D: I only own like 7, and I'm not even concerned with load times! This is awesome! Plus, I only have a 20 GB HDD. I was saying for the Elite members.

1680 x 1050. YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES.

What's the point of playing from the hard drive if you have to have the disk in the tray?

Glad there's finally 1680x1050 support, but did anyone else see that new Avatar/Mii rip-off tripe?

Honestly, I thought it looked terrible. Here's hoping we can just keep the standard friends list - I'd much prefer a simple list of names with gamer pics to a crowd of shitty looking cartoon characters.

The updates sound good. They are finally doing away with that shit interface.

So will playing from the HDD get rid of the horrendous texture pop-in in Mass Effect??? Good deal with the feature, but for those of us with the 20GB unit, it pretty much sucks as I only have like 10GB left anyway. And I could care less about 16x10 support. I hate the interface and am very glad they are getting a new option.
