Honestly, I have no clue how to properly create a resume for a job. Since everyone on this forum is (from my experience) extremely helpful and knowledgeable about basically anything, I'm asking everyone to give me tips, advice, guidelines, etc. to help me make a proper resume.

If it helps: I really want to work at a store that deals with PCs, technology in general, or games. Places like Futureshop, Best Buy, EB Games, and Radio Shack. I have no professional experience doing anything ( ), but I am extremely proficient in PC hardware installation, PC troubleshooting, installation of virtually any piece of technology, very knowledgeable about games, and I have an outgoing personality. Sort of.

I'm also 16 (17 in two months), and in my last year of high school.

So, whatever anyone can do to help me would be great. I need everything I can get.

It's pretty easy. The resume should include all your personal data (like name, callname, address, sex, where you were born, married yes/no, nationality), your educations in a chronological order like:

1980 - 1990: School for very smart super people

1990 - 2000: School for exremely smart super people

And then your jobexperience, with a proper jobdescription, of what you did there.

And then add some stuff like hobbies, software you're familiar with etc, be creative :)
Since you want a job at a computer/game store, focus on the hobbies and software/hardware knowledge.

If you got no job experiance, it's always good to put down any volunteer work you did in its place. Hell, even if you do have experiance, volunteer work makes you look spiffy.

Oh, and keep it short. Long resumes = no good.

Use a word template and just insert all of your information.

Well, since I have no job experience (yet...) the only thing I can put down there is the volunteering I did for a summer day camp two years ago. Really, I've got no other work experience, though I have been paid a number of times for my quality help with PC maintenance, hardware installation and Windows troubleshooting, which made me feel professional :)

you should do a cover letter as well, makes it look awesome. Also you might want to put down your hobbies as well, stuff to do wit computers and whatnot. If you get the interview their going to ask your hobbies anyway tho.

That should help you with a get-me-by resume for those type of jobs listed above. You shouldn't have to put too much effort into your resume since you are still young. You will most likely completely change your resume by the time you are 21, so don't act like this resume is going to carry you through the rest of your life.

If you are looking for a salary job, I suggest you spend a lot of time researching how to make a resume. That is critical.
