Making doors and stuff

I have now made a basic room with light and its actualy working. The problem now is that the room has no exit, i got a hallway and want a door between the hallway and the room, how do i make the two meet where there is only a solid wall now ?
Also how do i make springs,toilets,chairs,barrels and other stuff in my map, i have tryed creating a spring with enteties but it didnt work

On the subject of doors, any tutorials out here that show you how to make a door with a sexy handle that moves ? :D

I think those would just be regular model props, using I/O's so when you use it it plays the animation of the handle moving, then opening etc.

Already read most of it. I see people make incredible things with hammer all the time like motors,gigantic guns,catapults and i want to do the same :p But first i have to understand how it works and stuff. So to begin with, how do i make a hole in a wall or place a door ?
Sry for nagging all of you =)
 
Very simple door?

Make a brush, Tie it to entity > func_door.
set the parameters (which way to open, etc, etc,etc) and voila.
