Entirely owned by videogames, just 2 little trailers, many of us have changed our mind on F.E.A.R.. I think many of us are already planning to buy this game and increase our budget on gaming for the next few years(great games come with great fees). Gaming are good for relaxing ourselves, but when it becomes our addiction and our devotion, that's where thing goes wrong. I feel sad for myself for not being able to stop thinking about games all the time. I have a life outside of computer, but I deliberatly choose to live more time with computer and videogames(when i have no school and no work, i spend the whole day with stuff on videogames). Sad, isn't it ?? How can I cut off this addiction or get it in control at least(by "in control", i mean maximum 1 hour per day).

I saw the fear trailers on gamespot(and the extended gameplay), and i'm not the least bit interested in buying it. Its still just my foursome that i'm buying this year :)

meh.....fear doesn't appeal to me. From what I see the only thing it has going for it is the nifty bullet time effect, but I don't think it will be enough to redeem it in my eyes.

Have you seen the latest trailers (Rather, E3 demonstrations)? Not that 38 second video

Well I just watched the only one I hadn't seen after I posted that, and I stand by my post. It blows my mind how some people are saying it looks better than halflife2 and Doom3. One guy even said it looks like this will reinvent the FPS genra, all after a few very poor quality vids were released showing absolutely nothing new that hasn't been done in games. It looks incredibly, unforgivably generic to me right now.

I don't reckon it looks as good as Doom 3 or even Halo 2 but i'll still get the game. It looks like something new. FPS-Action and a bit of horror and what looks to be a promising story. Sounds good to me

Agreed. It looks like it has it's scary moments, but I'd certainly pick Doom 3 over it if I had to choose. Gameplay-wise all it seems to have is running and shooting with bullet-time (which is fast on its way to becoming the biggest cliche of all time). Sure it has it's atmospheric parts, but so did HL, System Shock 2 and virtually every other decent shooter of the last generation. And you can bet HL2 and Doom 3 will have cool atmospheric scenes and great things that happen all around you, but with the addition of Valve's unique physical interactivity and creative gameplay or id's amazing tech and cleverly twisted minds, respectively.

Right there...thats exactly why we're excited. It seems to have a lot of the stuff that made us like Half Life in the first place.

This thread is about video game addiction, not Fear really. If you want to talk about Fear try the other two "dedicated" threads and stop hijacking this one lol.

Most people here are too afraid to admit stuff like this, that's why they say "it's sad"

I used to be like that too, but now I'm not very interested into games, I find it more amusing to be chatting on IRC and do real life stuff, like drawing and chilling in the sun. I also recommend long walks, it clears your mind, you get alot of philosophy theories and stuff, and it's better than sitting stuck to the chair in this summer heat.

The thing is, gaming is not as much addiction as it is a hobby that becomes a larger part of your life. Find other hobbies, even it out and you'll be fine.

If you want to start drawing seriously or something, give me a shout and I'll do what I can to aid you.

Good point. Does School count as a Hobbie?

School counts as a punishment for being born or something

I'll school any of you in basketball. I've got the set shot.

I love basketball, I used to play all day on a court outside the old place I lived in, where I live at the moment there is no basketball court :(

Don't you have a bball court at your school or at a nearby park? My hoop is two blocks away :E

Sounds like me, trying to get off my arse more for walks/reading/stuff. I should really get back into drawing, used to be pretty good.
