Manhunt 2 coming to a Wii near you!! (and a PSP and PS2 also)

Rockstar Games, who've always had a penchant for controversy, just added a gasoline-soaked two by four (with nails in it) to the "do video games teach kids to kill" bonfire, announcing that Manhunt 2, the sequel to last generation's ultraviolent snuff film-slash-video game, will be released on the PlayStation 2, the PSP and the Wii -- with nary an Xbox 360 or PS3 announcement in sight.

The PS2 and PSP versions are being developed by Rockstar London, their newest studio, in conjunction with Manhunt series creator Rockstar North (Grand Theft Auto) while the Wii version is being handled independently by Rockstar Toronto (The Warriors). We're going to be hearing a lot more about this one.

Man, this is awesome news! And for the Wii too?? Great news to get that system some adult content and into the hearts and minds of the more mature Nintendo fans. I loved Manhunt and it will be extremely interesting to see what they come up with for the next one--I just hope Brian Cox is somehow involved again (unlikely as that may be given the first one).

Never played the original but good news that it's coming to Wii. I knew Rockstar wanted to put something on Wii and it's nice to see they aren't afraid of making it something truly nasty. And it's not a port of a last gen game. :E

AND a separate team is making it so we won't be lumbered with PS2 graphics.

I liked Manhunt the first time I played it but now that I look back....it was kinda bad :O

Lots of violence though.

It was actually really good. One of the most tense, compelling stealth games I've ever played. The thrill of systematically hunting, killing, and dragging your prey away was great. Throwing a severed head into the middle of a well lit parking lot causing the sentries nearby to panic, making it easy to pick them off one by one, is an experience unmatched by Splinter Cell or even Metal Gear.

The possibilities of Wiimote control sound great.

Good news even though I don't really care about the game. It was thought that Rockstar would never do games for Nintendo, hopefully they can get some original content from them for the system, or at least a GTA
