Manhunt 2 Review.

...They seriously censored pixels?!

Jesus christ that's low.

I have the ... um ... unreleased version. I know it's not fair to judge an incomplete beta of a game, but it really isn't very good (and this is without censorship).

I loved the first ... but this just took every thing that was good about it and threw it away and took everything that was bad and made it worse. In the original the whole setting and reason behind heinously murdering these people was perfect and the gore was absolutely necessary within the context of the game. It also actually had a theme and some soft social commentary that didn't take the form of a 10 minute long soliloquy, which is rare for a videogame.

With the second the storyline, in addition to being derivative and bad, is clearly just a blatant attempt to support the gore. Even the gameplay is inferior to the original. The gun levels are peppered more frequently and are far worse than they were in the original, and the stealth lacks any of the intensity or suspense that the original had. It feels like a cheap imitation and is a terrible sequel to a damn good game.

I wish that this game could have at least matched the quality of the first, giving us a good reason to argue against censorship on the basis of artistic merit. Unfortunately this crap does nothing but give credence to the people who want to ban/censor media.

So much for R* for their effort to censoring some killing animations.

Other players including myself found a way to disable the static/blur effect and censors. :bounce:

Loved the first one, but mostly for Brian Cox.

This one may be a buy for me for my Wii, but probably later on at a reduced price. May warrant a rental now though...:P
