Ohh.. I'm gonna love this thing ^_^

Anyway... I'm wondering. After the rollermines sequence you see the manipulator sucking ammo towards him and it gets added immediately. but in the crane scene he sucks a gun towards him, drops it and walks over it. It could also be in the ammo scene that he sucks but releases before it reached him, allowing the momentum to make the ammo hit him. What do you guys think?

Also, I liked how they upgraded the range of the manipulator, while keeping it realistic (the dragging instead of instantly coming of the ground).

Discuss. :p

It could be that ammo is automatically added to your inventory but guns that you already have aren't added unless you drop them first.

I think you can launch the guns with the manipulator to do damage but they chose not to have that ammo as launchable ammo with the manipulator that is.

i agree ,its awesome how things get dragged on the ground before reaching you. the pallet is an obvious example

yeah I love it, Im assuming that the manipulator with the increased range was probably upgraded though.

I like how they made the manipulator weaker at longer range. Great idea. I know it's been said, but it's just so good.

So it's more like a magnet now than an antigravity device?

I'd call it a combo of both.

I wonder, since you can't pick up people (and rightly so), what if you aimed it at a saw blade with a zombie in between it and your manip, and then hit 'attract'?

Reverse pwnage? :D

Also, I love how stuff you pick up suddenly decelerates when it's fully attracted. <3

Dont you feel that the movement and weapons are alot more aggressive now. Look at traptown vid when he crow bars the wood, then look at the bit in the new vids when he does the same... For one the wood makes the most satisfying sound, but also the swing looks real and aggressive. That is actually my fav bit, I just love how that sequence turns out with the paint pots etc.

"So it's more like a magnet now than an antigravity device?"

I dont think its changed, more like its become more realistic. Distance is always a limitation, so its going to limit the power of the manipulator at range. It obviously exerts less force the further objects are away. Otherwise you could pick up a combine from a mile away and proceed to pound his brains all over a cliff...

I just love the rollermine demonstration and vehicle demonstrations, it shows what large and dynamic levels HL2 is capable of.

heh, never thought of that, cool idea

I think my favorite part of the video was where the combine was on the other side of the buggy as gordon, so he whips out the manipulator and blasts the buggy, smashing the combine. It was just so unexpected and clever.

I wanted to see the combine by the tire swing get wacked upside the head too, but the two inside the house interrupted.

Anyone else feel sick when gordon takes the saw blade out of the wall and the sliced body falls to the ground. The movement of it just makes me feel ill :/

Speaking of the two combine interrupting, I hope that them sneaking up on Gordon wasn't scripted and instead is some smartass AI.

I just finished DL the demo one hour ago. Its awsome. So Sexy.

Everything from the start till the end its so dam hot.

Well, The hardest part going to be is against the Striders, Man these Aliens are Hard to kill, One beam from their Gun can take out half your health. WOW

I wonder though, what will hapen if you pick up blades that aren't already horizontal. There are some (diagonal blades) in the level, but the player just leaves them be. Or what if you pick up the horizontal ones from above or below... My guess is they will become horizontal, but that defies realism...

It doesnt really matter how the manipulator works...if it does the job it's fine with me :)

My fav bit is gotta be the bit where you have the circular saws, I mean...WOW!, choppin a zombies noggin off:D

Expecially the bit with the paint can, awsome stuff

that alien machine gun (what we used to call the Flare gun) or whatever it is, looks damn cool. great weapon idea.. its stuff like that, that makes me smile :)
