MAp differs from server

I downloaded the game Sunday night and I now have 3 maps that are "corrupted". When I try to join a game it tells me the map differs from the server.

It started out as just de_dust2, then de_aztec was effected now de_dust is effected also.

I have no idea what is causing this as I have not modified a single thing in the game.

I know you said you havn't changed anything but open up your map folder and see if you have aztec or dust in there.

sounds like you downloaded it from a warez site and crazcked it. if so you deserve it.

does cs:s download content automatically like HL mods do?
if so, he could have joined a cracked server and auto downloaded a map with the same name (I have seen servers running maps like DE_DUST) instead of De_Dust. (go to your steam\steamapps\*your email*\counter-strike source\cstrike\maps
dir, and delete the maps you see there)

its either that, a corrupt gfc (if so, might have to re-download it)
or warez (if so, delete it and then purchase it, like the rest of us)

I have a *.cache and a *.manifest file for each map, no actual maps for any map in the maps folder.

Just as a side note i did by the game so how about not trying to cause problems.

BTW those files are in /maps/soundcache

if i have no map files i have no idea how it could differ from the servers.

Yes all servers i have tried, and i've tried a bunch. I submitted a bug report not sure what valve doeswith those.

geez that sucks.. only thing I can think of is perhaps a corrupt gfc download (but as far as I know its unheard of)

I would suggest posting at the www.steampowered.com forums for some help.
other than that, as a last resort you could remove cs:s and then redowload it.

Ok so i reformatted my HD and reinstalled everything. once i getthe games we'll see what happens.
