Okay, when I run my map in hammer, it compiles it into the .bsp, but when it tryes to load the map it gives me this error:
___________________________________
Failed to load the launcher DLL:

The Specified module could not be found.

After that I tried to just load the .bsp without hammer, and it gave me this error:

"Gameinfo.txt deosn't exist in hl2."

It deos this to every map I have on my computer. Even the sdk_ maps.

Please help me out here!

I know that works, but it hasnt always done this.

plus, it is very tiring to just load my maps; because I am working on singleplayer maps

I mean, run the game at least once before trying to compile. Steam updates screw up the SDK every single time.

Similarly to this problem, I have 'created a mod', but when I 'run_mod' (or the like) or even 'run map' after compile it goes to a menu but 'new game' simply gives me a grey box, as in HL2 and there is no way to test my creation. To recap my actual questions

1) I'm trying to get the map to work in a created mod. Where should I place the compiled map and its components (specify which components please).i.e. In my 'New Levels' folder or "steamapps/sourcemods/<my mod>/...".

2) What do I have to do to get the game to see the map and allow me to play it.

3) Tell me any info I have absent-mindedly forgot to ask, but in your experience know will be vital to me understanding the process required -- I am a complete newb to mapping (and I apologise profusely).

P.S. If it's important, my map does have an 'info_player_start' and some weapons and props, could this simply be a case of some missing entity that I require for a HL2:SP map to work at all?

If you've compiled the mod, the BSP would go in the SourceMods\<mod>\maps folder.

Thanks for now Raeven0, I'll do that and likely come back with another problem, knowing me.

Sorry for the double post, I just like telling people that their advice was heard. I just need to know, after following the advice given how I can

a) Simply test the level in the engine (keep it in really simple steps, I am a slow learner)

b) Make a load point in the 'start new game' window (for later reference). All the writings of valve confuse my simple mind.
