maps/soundcache - what are these?

Hi!

Is it safe to delete the cache files in maps/soundcache folder? Why are these files created anyway? I need to free up some hard disk space - will the lack of these cachefiles have any influence on Half-Life 2 when I will be playing it again?

Yes, Half-Life 2 will just recreate them, because they are necessary to play the game.
