Anyone commit themselves to martial arts? I do Tae Kwon Do, very efficient type of martial arts if you want to learn kicks, good self defence and professional fighting technique...

Im starting Tae Kwon Do in a few weeks, after i finish acting classes. Always wanted to do it :E

I do Tae Kwon Do aswell but I'm not very commeted to it. I am a yellow belt though.

Wow, nice to here it. Its good to know people are learning self-defence. Eventually when your good enough at it, it will rule street baseball bat wielding phycos :p

It's funny watching people's faces as you encirlce their bodies with an axe kick.

I've taken Tae Kwon Do in the past (wow alot of Tae Kwon Do people here ) but right now I'm taking Kenpo Karate. I just got my Brown belt a couple of weeks ago. :D

im looking for something viscious :) any tips??

Joims: I may have an idea. The one I'm thinking of, It's a Brazilian martial art, it has a really cool name, and I think it has a lot of aerobatics in it... Capoeira, I think. I'm kind of interested in taking that one, sounds like it would be a lot of fun. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

Did Tae Kwan Do to Green Tag when I was about 12, got bored real quickly. I want to learn something involving Quaterstaffs at somepoint, maybe whilst I'm at Uni.

I'm a former Shodan in Shotokan Karate.

8 years and I absolutely loved it. Very disciplined, very physical and also good mentally. I lost heart when my sensei retired and my club dissolved. :(

Still practice kata's at home though. :D

Yeah, I practice this a bit, tho I'm not too commited to it. I guess I'm too lazy to practice at home.

Never been a fighter myself, but I did take two years of fencing in college. Got pretty good, actually, and it was super fun.

I misread as 'Maritial Arts'. :naughty:

This must be, what, the tenth martial arts thread I've seen? :p

I wish I wasn't so lazy.

Bujinkan Ninjitsu, I learnt some stuff off my dad, rejoining a club soon.

I use to take Tae Kwan Do but it was a waste of money. $30 a month just for the class and another $25 to take a test to get a new belt color.

I used to do Tae Kwon Do about 10 years ago when I was a kid. I was good at it, and wish I had stuck with it, but gave it up because of secondary school.

I would love to take up a martial art now (ong Bak got me interested in Muay Thai), but to put it simply I've become a fat waste. I'd have to get a bit fitter in order to be able to take up martial arts, in order to make me properly fit.

cool nice to no your all keeping fit , lol.

Vicous sports: Kick boxing, Boxing, Bullying lol

The best: Tae Kwon Do, Kick boxing

Americanized martial arts is pathetic compared to the originals they teach back in asian countries. i know this from hard exprience, cant believe how they do it here then back in korea.

I'm too old...if I was like 13 or something I'd start, but a 20 year old going in and getting his ass handed to him by kids would suck.

That's just a pride and ego thing.

Not all MA's deal in ass whoopin's. ;)

All you need is some muay thai, juijitsu, and I like to spice things up with some white crane gwan fu. The movements of the crane invite you to your doom yo!

Karate, it's pretty straight-forward. No flashy or dancy moves like in kung-fu.

*cough*...yea, i wrestle. So if i can get your ass off those two feet, it's mine ;)

i also do..essentially gymnastics, with a buddy of mine. Sure it may sound gay, but it's fun with the flips and handsprings and stretches and stuff.

I use to do Tae Kwan Do.

Karate has some flashy moves.
I really want to do Ninjitsu though, but, no one teachs it near here.

Taijitsu techniques make up most of the techniques youd learn studying it, so check that out.

i took jeet kune do a few years back. since then ive taken parts of that and traditional boxing and made my own style.

Tae Kwon Do is the best martial art in the world. :)

I'm a black + red belt.
