so many new things..

i have a question, i've been out of it for like ~7 months and i want to get back into gw so i installed it/updated and it seems the same, like black dye costs the same.

problem is, tomorrow there will be 2 expansions of which i have no idea about so i was thinking of picking up nightfall in the morning and playing through that and than getting factions in a week or 2; would this work ? or would it suck playing prophecies/nightfall without factions ?

also, all the talk of heroes, insignias and the other bajillion things in this update have me scared to death.. how the hell am i suppose to catch up now ? :x

- i'm willing to buy both factions & nightfall tomorrow if people think that's a good idea.

Nightfall starts out with a tutorial area, so there's no need to worry about being left behind. It'll teach you all the new stuff about heroes and whatnot, and refresh your memory on anything you might have forgotten.

I haven't played Nightfall yet of course, but from what I can tell, Factions has nothing to do with it. (EXCEPT, of course, if you want to play through Nightfall with the Ritualist and Assassin.) So you could easily play through the two in reverse order.

And the update... ah... it's like free candy. Look at some of those elementalist buffs - glyph of lesser energy reduces the cost of your next TWO spells now! And similar improvements are all over the place. I've never seen such wild abandon in buffing since the game came out. And the new dye mixing mode is great - let's you see exactly what mixing will look like on your armor before you waste the dye.

So anyway, I'd probably buy Nightfall, play through it, see how you like it, and if you're not tired of the game, go ahead and pick up Factions too.

Factions was crap imo, get Nightfall first, Factions later.

I've been playing actively and the new runes and insignias still scared the hell out of me x.x

wow... good round of buffs there...we'll see how it plays...

they ruined Victory is mine though my N/W wasbuilt around that...ugh now I'll probably need to figure out a new build again...same thing happen with the AoE nerf when he relied on Mark of Pain....Anet don't like my N/W...

I just started playing again. I didnt even know about the expansions, I just saw some awesome concept art at conceptart.org for it and I was like "Damn, I think Ill play again."

That's my main problem, I'm way too poor to buy anything currently..hopefully this new job works out wonders.
