I'd been meaning to pick this book up for ages but I've only recently got around to it.
I'm about half-way through and enjoying it so far, it has its funny moments, and although it does show Carmack to be a genius it also casts him in quite a cold light at times I find.
Some of stuff those original id guys went through though just seems crazy, I mean these guys literally lived to create games and took a few hard knocks along the way. Though it's obvious in places that some of the facts have been "Tarted up" for the benefit of the book.
Did anyone else read this book?
