Anyone else a fan of these awesome prog-metallers? Digging their latest album, Blood Mountain, should've been called Riff Mountain really :D

Any album recommendations? A friend showed me some stuff off of Leviathan so I may go torrenting that...

Leviathon is good..but the Mountain is 10x better imo

Great band!

Mastodon madness! Just today some of the UK tour dates were unearthed. This is the third Mastodon related thing I've seen all the day. The first being my mate hinting a Wolverhampton date as his bro works for their Record Company, then I actually see the first date put up (Manchester) and now a thread. Awesome.

Personally, I love Leviathon, but Blood Mountain is, to put it simply, stunning. Riff's ahoy indeed! Circle Cysquatch is a fuppin' beast of a song.

But onto the tour... YEEEEEEYYYY. They're playing Wolverhampton, apparantly. Wolver-****ing-hampton. Who'da thunk it. Booyah.

YAY FOR WOLVO. When abouts, do you know?

5th March, apparantly. Where abouts in Wolvo are you from, if any?

I've been hearing a lot about Mastodon recently. Really is time I check them out properly I guess. Any places to start?

Personally, I started on Blood Mountain, so I've only gotten into quite recently really. Well, whenever it was leaked as my freind got me a copy. Summer sometime. Annnnyway, that was the album that really made me push forward to get more. Remission and, as said, Leviathan, are really good, too, but I still listen to Blood Mountain more.

I'm undecided on Mastodon, I don't like "Colony of Birchmen" off of Blood Mountain, the vocals don't do it for me, nor the music for that matter.

I'll have to listen to more to make up my mind.

I think that's the track Josh Homme did with them, aswell as the hidden track. Or am I just thinking I read something saying he did vocals with them? I can't remember, and I can't tell from the song. My personal faves from BM are This Mortal Soil, Crystal Skull and Circle Cysquatch. Love 'em.

Josh Homme did backing vocals for Colony Of Birchmen, which I personally think is a good song and he did a secret 'fan letter' at the end of Pendulous Skin (hence the reason it is 22 minutes long, you have to fast forward to around a minute before it ends).

Bladecatcher is a song that really stood out to me, along with Hunters of the sky, absolute riffathon! The crazy ass sounds during the 'verse' sections never fail to crack me and my mates up.

Aye, I know it. CliffSide railway, Seven Valley, etc. Nice place. :)
