Math(?) problem.

Assume that the 4th dimention is time. And that 1000 = 1 AU.

(x,y,z,T)

Object A is fired from (-300,200,500,50) to location (200,250,0) at a speed of 0.5 AU.

Object B is fired from (400,500,150,100) at the same location.


What must Object B going at a speed of (in AU), if they are to collide? Round to the 1st position below decimal.

By speed of "0.5AU" do you mean 500 distance units per time unit? Because if so, the two won't collide.

hahaha, yeah i was thinking the same, korean war applicable knowledge. Isn't that what they did in nazi germany too? 'Drop X amount of bombs over X distance, how many undesireables can you kill?' Things like that. And i thought SK was the democratic peaceful one having to defend itself not inflict harm :(
 
Well if A and B were missiles I suppose this problem would be considered missile defence (calculating speed to intercept missles?) so it would more defensive than offensive militarily.
 
Welll, considering AU means "Astronomical Unit", it looks to me it's based around mass packet accelerations.

Got it again. :D The original question didn't have 'object' on it.

I'm not sure what that means, but it prolly is the error on my part. :o

(I meant AU/time unit, and I mistyped the times of each missle, causing the second one to be fired too late)

(Or it could have been my evilness "if they are to collide"):p
 
This math stuff just blows my mind. I wish I was intelligent in the slightest of bits.

I still have troubles with the good ol':

Train A is traveling at 50 mph going east on the track. Train B is traveling 65 mph going WEST on the track. If they are 400 miles away from each other, how long will it take to collide?

Guh, I just made a question that I can't answer.
 
surely if the two objects are heading to the same location they will collide whatever speed they are going. unless of course they arent heading directly towards each other.

do you mean what speed should they be going to arrive at the same place at the same time?
