Ok, I don't know the answer to this question, it's not for homework, not for a test, I don't care about this answer, I found a really hard math question on the internet, just to see some of you argue and fight. It's also a good way for some of you to show off, eh?, eh? (I seriously enjoy you guys fighting)

A sphere 5.5 metres in diameter is filled with 1m diameter hemi-spheres.

a: (1) What is the theoretical maximum amount of hemi-spheres that can be crammed into the big sphere given that the following condition is met:
Each hemi-sphere's flat side (which I'll now refer to as its 'disc') has a central point (indicated by the white point shown in the hemisphere diagram to the right). The point must not 'see' another hemisphere's disc. By definition, when I say 'see', the simplest thing to imagine is a straight ultra-thin 'laser light' coming from the disc. This 'light' must not reach another disc. However, if there's another hemi-sphere that's 'blocking' the 'line of sight', then this is accepted.

(2) By cramming them as efficiently as possible, a relatively small volume will be left. How large is this volume?

b: Same question, except the torch now has a 52.72077938642 (that's 90/(1+(0.5^0.5))) 'degree of sight'. This 'cone' of light extends from the exact centre of the disc and is once again not allowed to 'see' any part of another disc. What is the maximum amount of hemisphere's that can be crammed into the mega-sphere now?

c: Same question again, except the whole disc acts as a tubular beacon of light. This thick ray must not 'see' another hemisphere's disc. What is the maximum amount of hemisphere's that can be crammed into the mega-sphere now?

How about a problem that doesnt require a phd :|

I would say "Right!" or "WRONG!", but I don't know the answer... I'll go find another harder question, one that is so impossible you'll never figure it out!!!!! MUHAHAHAH!!!!!

C'mon Ikerous, you can do it, we believe in you.

I wouldnt even know where to begin :|
I know how to maximize a formula, but how the hell do i set one up for that
especially with the whole line of site crap

1. 0

2. (5.5/2)^2 * pi

b. 0

c. -1

How about you try to find the hypervolume of a four dimensional hypersphere ^_^
I did it the other day when i was bored

yeah, well... I can tie my shoes :|

I find it hilarious that people think of stoners are stupid, lazy jerks... when all the smartest people I know are stoners, and at least half of them are probably certified geniuses. And then there's me, never touched drugs of any type, don't plan to (at least until after high school) and I can barely get dressed in the morning... and am probably lazier than all my stoner friends combined.

If you tuck the laces in you dont have to tie em
Real time saver

^^double post FTW.

^ not with ten-eye docs. Then they just fall off, because I gotta unlace 'em to get em off. ALthough most tiems I sleep with 'em on.

Erm? Don't you tie your shoes to keep them from falling off?

My shoes fit quite snug and ive never had em tied

So why not just remove the laces?

Or trim them short?

Cuz its less work my way
The path of least resistance ftw

how many shoes would fit in a square with a volume of 1.9999999999999..repeating metres?

White.

Lets do simple math ^_^

x + 1 = 0

They'll only fall off at all if they're laced loosely and without care.

I don't know many people who tie their shoes either unless it's for sports or jogging. Everyone tucks them in.

What if 1 shoe is size 1 and the other is 1/2 = 1 - 1/2

1 - 1/2 shoes would fit in 1.99999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999

Hurray for pointless conversation!

I tie my shoes sort of tightly, just enough so I can slip my feet in them, I havn't tied my shoes since I bought them, I just slide my feet in with them tied.

1.9999999999... is another expression of 2, isn't it?

1/9 = 0.11111111...
2/9 = 0.22222222...
3/9 = 0.33333333...
.
.
.
8/9 = 0.88888888...
9/9 = ?

It just isn't a day unless someone is confessing their love towards ikerous.

I thought Maths is what we are discussing here.

thats what i do. not for time saving, just for the looks and the comfort.

I tuck my laces. Loose yet snug. Btw, Vans ftmfw.

Oops, off topic.

Uhm...

2 x 3 = [ ]?
