We're told that Emergence is almost complete at this point, but Ritual still plans to put the game online sometime in May. The company is distributing it online via Steam, but it is contemplating some kind of retail package, as well, though nothing is nailed down at this point. What's interesting is that those who buy Emergence will also get the original SiN through Steam, and it's been cleaned up with all the bugs fixed. This also includes multiplayer, which apparently is still popular even today. Emergence looks like a fresh new start for the franchise, and we'll see it ship soon.

Oh well, hopefully this just means a better product.

Well, of course it does. Clearly its pretty much finished, but they and Valve are waiting on some sort of Source engine tweak.

Two outstanding games in one months. Can't beat that.

Well...maybe TF2...no no. Definitely Aftermath and Sin Episodes.

There is actually a very good reason for the game being released in May. However, it's not my place to say what that reason is.

What I can say is that we wouldn't be moving the release date that far back if the end result wasn't going to be good for the game, good for gamers and good for Ritual as well.

Stay tuned...the answer will be revealed...

I hope that the new addition is worth it.
Not an addition. And yes, it's worth it.

I'm not sure about all this cloak and dagger stuff. I'm sure I will appreciate whatever "it" is if you guys felt it was worth delaying the game for.
"Cloak and dagger" isn't the intention, but we are not allowed to say what "it" is.

It's kind of like back when I was at Microsoft, and a new product announcement or major feature was scheduled to be announced in a couple of days. Even though we knew what it was, any questions had to be met with "Microsoft does not comment on industry rumors."

Boy, there have been a lot of theories bandied about lately...

To eliminate what we are *not* doing, we are not changing engines, upgrading the tech, integrating new tech, swapping one tech for another, doing *anything* with the tech, adding levels, playing Frisbee with the gold master, attacking small furry animals, making changes to Jessica's whale-tail, creating "Hot Coffee II: Espresso," or poking unrecognizable lumps of slimy ichor with a sharp stick.

There will be a press release soon related to what we *are* doing.
speculation? gogogo!
