Steam has locked up my AMD Dual Opteron 242, so I returned it, and got a Dual Xeon 3.0 with HT (not because of this game, though, it will have a different purpose later).
Both systems lock up when trying to launch Steam. Both do it with no error messages, my computer just freezes (network traffic icons do not blink, traffic stops, mouse freezes, keyboard quits responding, the windows task manager CPU graphs freeze).
I am not sure what is going on. I started a thread about it here.
What would you try to fix this?
