The Washington Post reported Friday that the campaign was running an online ad featuring the headline: "McCain Wins Debate!" and a photo of a smiling McCain and an American flag background. Another featured a quote from McCain campaign manager Rick Davis: "McCain won the debate ? hands down."

except the debate hasnt happned yet

The time between the final answer in any presidential debate and the campaign press release declaring victory can usually best be measured in milliseconds. But John McCain?s campaign ? which has been downplaying his performance at Friday?s faceoff, offering praise for opponent Barack Obama?s ?eloquence? and debating skill ? seems to have decided it?s never too soon to start spinning the outcome.

lol, an over eager mccain aid releasing an ad too early? or purposeful spin to placate staunch conservatives who would see a win no matter the outcome

Obama: "what initiatives are you bringing to the table to solve the economic downturn?"

McCain: " ummmm ...all of them?"

conservatives: "ooooooh obama coughmuslimterroristcough got owned, U-S-A, U-S-A!!!!"

I guess that means he's showing up tonight at least. I'm watching the debate in one of my community lounges with free UNC Students for Barack Obama - paid pizza.

I don't think I need to reiterate in the context of this thread that I believe McCain is a ****ing moron.

What sucks is I might miss this debate, will have to tivo it. Why in the hell would they do this on a Friday night?

But I guess I don't have to watch it all since we now know who won.

Damn your title trickery.

if he mentions the prison camp 5 times you have to take a shot

Oh man, oh man, oh man. Gold.

For anyone wanting to watch, you can catch it streaming at http://MyDebates.org in about 20 minutes or so. There's some random survey and myspace related stuff to get through because it's been set up by the same people, but interestingly it does show the balance of support among all the people who've used the site. Only Mississippi comes out strongly in favour of McCain.
