mdl import to 3ds max 7?

Hi,

simple question: How can i import the Half life 2 model files .mdl into 3ds max 7? Or is there another modelling tool where the import is easier? Just tell me please
 
u can try milkshape or the old smd importer for max but they dont retain the smooth skin weights, so u will only have rigid weights.
xsi mod tools r a better choice

Ok, i decompiled the model, installed the Mod Tool and the Valve Plugin. Now i can import the decompiled model. But it asks me for a texture directory. I extracted some vtf and vmt files from half life 2 but Softimage seems to look for BMP Files. So where to get them?
 
u gotta use vtf2tga in the sourcesdk/bin folder. start a cmd prompt (run->cmd)
and type
cd %sourcesdk%/bin
vtf2tga -i path/to/vtffile -o path/to/outputed/tga then direct xsi to the outputed tga files
