I have a Logitech MX510 Optical Mouse, and it's quit working.

I was raising the system bus speed using the nForce configuration utility released by nVidia, I hit apply, and my mouse started jumping all over the screen, clicking on stuff randomly.

I rebooted the computer, and when I got to the login screen and moved the mouse, it jumped, and continued to jump as long as I was moving it.

I tried another mouse (Microsoft Intellimouse Optical) and no luck, it wouldn't even move the cursor.
I tried using the USB port and with neither mouse did the cursor move at all.
I've tried reinstalling/removing the driver, all that fun stuff, no good.
I've restored all BIOS settings to default, still no good.

In case it might help,
AMD 64 2800+
1024 MB DDR 2700 RAM
Geforce 6800
Windows XP SP2
Logitech MX510 PS2/USB

My Logitech Multimedia Keyboard works fine, and it is plugged into the PS2 port.
If anyone can offer any help, I will appreciate it greatly
Right now I'm using my dad's computer with the Logitech mouse plugged into the PS2 port so I know it's not the mouse...
Again, any help would be appreciated.

could be some type of malware, try all the usual scans (and hijackthis)

I run a nightly scan for viruses and spyware, and I connect to the internet through my dad's system, which had been shut down for the night, so no new infections could have slipped through post-scan.
Thanks for the reply though.

Did you try lowering you're bus speed back down to stock settings? You may have damaged something important.

First thing I tried, that and restoring all BIOS settings to default.

That being, I have fixed it.

I opened the computer and changed the "Clear CMOS" jumper, changed it back, and now everything is fine, except for the HD activity light which now refuses to function.

I use Mx510 with Steelpad 4D. I had the same problems. I bought another usb card and installed MX1000 driver. Than it started working just fine.

I once had a similar problem, ended up just being down to a small hair, granted that was a wheel mouse and the hair was lodged inside where the little sensors are. But yeah, maybe dirt? Drivers corrupt? too much running on the system? PSU being overloaded?

Eh, I fixed this about 4 weeks ago, thanks anyway ;)
