Mechanics/Transmission help

I'm planning to get my TTR-125 licensed for street use, and while i'm having no trouble getting all the equipment required for my safety check in working order, i'm really quite clueless as to performance enhancing changes i'll need to make.

I'd like to try and rejet my carb, but that'll obviously end up giving me too rich a mixture. Most people who rejet their TTR-125's seem to remove the snorkel on their Airbox, and drill a fat assed hole right ontop of the thing, and I REALLY don't want to do that. I take this thing offroading, and the bike ends up in some awkward positions in some awkward materials (IE upside down in a giant mudhole). I'm wondering, what else can I do to get more air into my mixture? Do you think I could get enough air in just by opening up my pilot air screw on my carb?

And i'll most definitely need to change my final drive, but this is where I REALLY don't know what the hell i'm doing. My rear rim is 16 inches, and my front sprocket is a 13 tooth. I'll need to check the rear in the morning.

I want to be able to hit fifty easily on my bike, so i'm not too sure what sort of gearing changes i'll need to do. Torque isn't too much of a requirement, but I want to retain enough so that I can keep some versatility while riding around town. I can always change out my sprockets when I go and hit the trails.

Help appreciated.
