Has anybody seen this on Animal Planet? I have seen about five of them... and I am amazed at these awesome little creatures, and the unbelievable amount of cooperation they show, working together for their goals. Sometimes they're selfish, sometimes they're selfless. They work together better than our closest relatives, the great apes.

Not to mention the wide range of eccentric behavior displayed, at least on this show. I wonder how accurate the narrator's comments are for the going ons. For example, some younger meerkats taking a baby infant away from the den, perhaps to go teach their younger sibling to forage before its really able to. Reminds me of young human children wanting to do all sorts of things with their young siblings.

Anyways. Poorly constructed post. Bed time!

Saw this once. Kinda made me ill...

The meerkats were scurrying around trying to save two of their young (unsuccesfully), the mother having abandoned them, and the narrator's comments sounded like something straight off America's Funniest Home Videos. Totally devoid of sympathy, just making wisecracks as the camera focussed in on one of the cubs stumbling around helplessly in the dirt, dying.

I saw commercials and died a little on the inside at the thought that reality television is no longer restricted to stupid people.

There is also a Survivor-style show... for cats.

Ah.

Grim portents of the foreboding apocalypse.

I don't watch it for the 'reality TV crap'. I watch it for the animal behaviors. Which is quite surprising!

Funny you should make a thread about this show. I saw it a couple days ago and I thought it was pretty neat.

My only complaint is the really dumb names they gave the lil dudes. Other than that, I was amazed as you were at their behavior.

When's it on?

I'm not sure.

But yesterday night I managed to catch a mini marathon showing all the shows they have released so far. Like 5 I think? From the beginning.

EDIT: Fridays at 8 p.m. E/P

NOTE: don't watch for the narrator. Watch for the observations and great footage of the little guys.

Hahah, I saw a best week every that highlighted this once.

Those little bastards have HUGE balls.

I saw previews for it, but I never see it on...
