I'm going to anticipate this will be crap. I really hope it isn't though and I really want to see this.

Man, someone has spent a long, long time going over the characters in the comic and figuring out how to make them look in live action. I'm very impressed, especially on Rorschach and the Comedian.

Yeah Rorschach and the Comedian look great. Hopefully we'll see more characters soon.

Veidt looks less like the most handsome man on earth as opposed to the most creepy weedy looking guy on earth.

The rest look good though.

Comedian looks awesome. It would've been cooler if they had properly stylised it with loads of purples like the comic, but nevermind.

Veidt should be better looking with a squarer jaw. He looks too puny. His and Night Owl's suits should look a bit more retro.

This looks ****ing awesome. Now all they need to do is not ruin it. Then make a Sandman film and not ruin it. Then make sure Sin City: Hell and Back is good. Then I will be happy.

This :D

I buyed and finished reading watchmen some time ago

it was awsome

I dont have hope for the movie

Dont know anything about Watchmen. But those shots look kickass!

They look like they were designed for an over the top action movie and Watchmen is not that. If I remember correctly Watchmen is more political/social than actual run and gun hero bullshit. I will have to read it again, been a while.

Either way if the movie is good, great. If the movie fails then maybe we get to see a lynching by Moore fan boys and maybe Moore himself will tie the noose.

Joy.

Eh, all the pictures look really good. Especially the comedian, thats my favorite picture out of all of them. Really fits the character from the comic :O

That comedian guy looks kind of stupid.

Do it, it's a very good read.

I'm about 1/2 way through the piece, and here are my opinions on the movie renditions:

The Comedian: Like
Nite Owl: Okay, too much of a change, but I hated the old look anyway
Veidt: Do not want. Must be older and better looking
Laurie: :naughty:
Rorschach: It's not like you can mess him up visually.

But there's someone missing...

We require Jon in all his nekkidness!

Why do these remind me of Batman and Robin?

Because thats exactly what they should remind you of. The characters in the Watchmen all have some fairly obvious parallels to better known superheroes, but they use them explore the humanity of those types of characters in ways that you could never get away with if you had the actual licenses.

I dunno I think the Dark Knight returns got under Batmans' skin somewhat. Another great read was Marshal Law, which pretty much dissected the whole superman myth, plus Marshal Law was kickass relentless.

I had a few marshall law comics back in the day ...it was a little weird ..I was into morrison/Bizley's Lobo at the time and Judgedread ..Marshall Law was a bit too ..obsessed with fetish-ism for my tastes

also agree with the dark knight however it was Frank Miller, I dont anyone could have pulled it off without DC getting a bit nervous ..it doesnt matter because the crappy batman movies killed the dark knight persona ..we came full circle to campy batman with batman forever etc

Dark Knight and a few other very special comics certainly have done some amazing stuff with established heroes, but the structure of Watchmen also lends itself more to characters that exist only inside the Watchmen universe, since they have defined character arcs with beginnings and ends.
