There are some quality memory sticks on the market (Corsair, Dane-Elec, Kingston, Transcend, Infineon) most of them using one of the 3 high quality chipsets...

I want to purchase some PC3200 memory (2 x 512mb) but does it really give you a performance boost in games when you get CAS2 (same referred as CL2) (means more aggresive timing) ?

Is it really worth to purchase CAS2 or CAS2.5 memory and spend an extra of 40 dollar?

well, if you're gonna be overclckeing, then of course! And generaly the cas2/cas2.5 sticks have better modules on them, so you might be slightl unstable with *some* cas3 sticks.

Memory timings are not as important as memory speed but Cas 3 or 2.5 to cas 2 can be the performance difference of a CPU model or two in a number of applications.
40$ isn't that much considering the added performance.
How much price difference is it between a 2.8GHz and 3GHz P4?
Tom has ran some benchmarks where a 2.8GHz P4 with solid timings has beat the 3GHz P4 with higher timings.

Here is a review that shows it pretty well.
