I hope this will help others having the memory error upon starting HL2 as referenced in the title of my message. I have been unable to start the game since buying it along with having the same problem with Vampires: Bloodlines. Finally today on the Vampires site I saw an email that not only solved my problem with starting it but also HL2. Simply put, I copied all of the files in my bin folder for HL2 into the main HL2 directory. After doing this the game starts fine with no further memory error messages. I hope this will help others having this same problem.
