alrighty... This problem has been haunting me for 2 days straight...
I installed Counter-strike:Source on friday... and played for a bit and everything was fine. So, I got some advice to try the omega drivers for my Leadtek Nvidia 5700... so I did... seemed the same to me...
Then I got some advice on OCing my AMD 2800... so I went into the bios... and changed the multipliers... to 200 x 11 .... This locked up the comp (because my 2800 happens to be locked to OCing).... and then I had to get the bios back to default... so I took off the bios jumper and put it back on... (I had done this previously with no prob...)...
by default it sets my proc to run at like 1250mhz.. so I changed it back to the 2800 default of 166 x 12.5/13 .... The comp works fine... starts runs like normal.... EXCEPT when I try to play ANY GAME.
This lead me to try MANY MANY MANY different vid card drivers... using driver cleaner many times... going in and trying to manually delete some registry entries to do with nvidia ...... So... after 10 hours yesterday... 6 hours today..... I am stuck.
I have NEVER had a problem before this... my card ran on leadtek's drivers fantastically. I have been playing city of heroes with this setup for 5 months... also tons of demos.... counter-strike/dod and such.
NOW... I crash to desktop in EVERY GAME.... from 3 secs to 5 minutes of play.. I CRASH ..
MY ram is good... tested it... I am leaning towards there being something wrong with my registry/bios....
Here are my specs....
