ok i just got a stick of 512mb ddr400 when i put it in my mb it shows up as ddr333 whats the deal i had ddr333 beforehand but i took it out cause its going in another system. my MB is a intel D865PERL it support up to 4gigs of ddr400 so it claims WHATS THE DEAL!?

try pouring water all over your ram slots.

hehe sorry man i dont know. Since its a pentium im sure you have more than a 400mhz fsb, but you can run your memory higher then your fsb.

fhjyftj

it doesnt give me a option in the bios to change memory speed

anything in the mobo manual?

or the manf website?

those would be good places to try.

what CPU do you have? whats it's FSB?

this is from intels site.

The following table lists the supported system bus frequency and memory speed combinations.
To use this type of DIMM... The processor's system bus frequency must be...
DDR400 800 MHz
DDR333 800 or 533 MHz (Note)
DDR266 800, 533, or 400 MHz

Note: When using an 800 MHz system bus frequency processor, DDR333 memory is clocked at 320 MHz. This minimizes system latencies to optimize system throughput.

heres my system its a P4 2.4ghz 533 FSB,intel D865perl MB,pny 512mb DDR433,geforce 4 TI4600

and it says right on the packaging for the ddr433 compatible with pc3200,pc2700,and pc2100

well that is your problem right there, did you read what i just posted? in order to use DDR400 (on that board) you need a cpu that does 800Mhz FSB.

ohhh so i have to use a 800fsb proccesor for it to reach that speed......ok cool im upgrading to one next week :) 2.6ghz 800fsb ohhh yeah
