Memory question...

Okay so i was wondering if i could take the 2 identical 256mb ddr rams from my dell dimension 8200 to my new Dell XPS (blue case). I want to add to it but i don't know if the memory will correspond and work, can someone give me some input on what to do?

It will work, but one thing you need to watch out for is the speed at which the memory runs

Are the 2 256 DDR sticks PC2100, PC2700, PC3200? You'll also need to check the Dell XPS' RAM, and make sure it corresponds. If the RAM speeds don't match, it'll either clock down to the slower speed, or in a worst case scenario, not work with eachother

well, they should work fine, all the ram will clock itslef to the lowest common denominator.

Where can i check this at? For some reason i dont remember the memory stick having any of that information on it but i could be wrong, and i believe my brand is samsung....or kingston....

Check on the dell support website, I beleive they have a feature where you type in your support ID, found somewhere on your computer, and you can see all the details on your machine.
