Hi,

A mate of mine is getting hit with Bluescreens, and has tried pretty much everything he can think of to fix it. I suggested it might be a memory problem, and that he should test it.

Anyone here know which software to do this?

(i should also add - he doesnt have HL2. It crashes whatever he is doing after about 20min or so. Quicker if he's playing a game)

If its not memory, i personally think its over-heating. Sure seems a lot hotter than my compy.

burn to CD and boot from it, leave running overnight

also get MBM5 (Motherboard Monitor 5), google it, it will give u an idea if its getting too hot. just remember the information they give u is never 100% accurate, but gives u an idea.

and an extra fan is always worth getting, if u got some place to put it. or get a more powerful one to replace the chassis fan.

thats all i can help u with for now

btw, is his computer a shopbought or a custom, and is his memory branded or generic?

cheers! I'll pass the info on.

Hopefully he can get it sorted and then purchase HL2 :)
